Couples Books

Brad and I have enjoyed our weekly bible study 

since getting married a year and a half ago.  We have

completed two books so far and have benefited greatly from 

both. The first was on marriage:

This book is set up nicely to be used as a weekly devotional.

Short chapters, easy to read, and challenging questions at the

end of each chapter made it both enjoyable and profitable. As we 

shared our expectations with each other openly.

After completing the marriage book we decided on a little different

book topic wise. We emailed some sweet ministers and got several 

book options on shepherding little hearts toward Jesus.

These chapters are longer and a little more repetitive. We certainly discussed topics

we had never even thought of concerning raising a family
with this book. It was great to speak honestly again about expectations

and we are thankful for the knowledge we gained while

reading these books together. I thought I'd pass these on in case
others were searching for couple books to read.

Radical

My January book read is complete…Yes in mid- February.

Radical by David Platt was my first book this year mostly a roll

over from last year since Brad read it in December and could

not stop talking about it.

I was hooked when I read, "It will be better not just

 for the poor but for you also when you abandon the stuff

 you are holding on to." The American Dream vs. God's
Desire for our lives. It's rough and straight forward. It's
upsetting and well radical. 

How do I serve God daily and focus on storing
up treasures in our eternal home while living in 
a society whose emphasis in on bigger, better, and more!
More! More!

How much is enough to give away? When so many are starving and lost.
How little can I truly live on? When everyone around is 
focused on increasing their own wealth.
How does God want me to serve from here? Or do 
I have to go across the world in order to serve him?
All thoughts that have come up while reading this one.

I'm excited to start the next book for 2015, but also praying for

guidance and discernment on how God desires to use me. Whether

in my community or in another country.
