Even my cup of coffee was smiling

this morning. I am so happy to report

that for the first time since Christmas

break i am home for the weekend! 

Our OB clinicals got cancelled this 

weekend so i am home! 

Happy Birthday to Jana Bell!

She is turning 21 this weekend, 

and i was supposed to go to 

her birthday tonight but in not 

in Birmingham!! She is such

a sweet sweet girl! And my

favorite Sunday school partner!!

In other news i guess a 5 1/2 is an 

odd ring size because i have been

to two different Pandora stores

and neither of them had my ring

in stock so i have to wait.

Spring Green

If you have been looking at a couple of my 

last posts you know what the green looked

like just a week ago! It was covered in snow.

But on Monday i am happy to say the weather

was beautiful and the green was covered with people!

I was particularly envious of this one guy who had a 

hammock set up between a light pole and a tree. 

It was just him his mac and a warm sunny afternoon.

His great idea inspired this post & I looked

 into the whole hammock thing and i have 

come up with five things us girls need as we 

head out on to the green this spring.

First, check your toes Mom always said you can 

tell how well people take care of themselves by

Gymnastics

I had mentioned to Brad that i wanted to 

try and see a gymnastics meet before he left 

Bama. And when he told me Alabama and 

Auburn were competing last Friday I couldn't

pass up the opportunity to see these fantastic

teams. I love gymnastics it amazes me the way

those girls can flip and jump. They are so nimble.

I took gymnastics classes from when i was 5

until i was 10 and the competed from 10 to 

14. After that I switched to cheer-leading 

but i worked at a gymnastics studio during

high school and college. During the summers

we would go to Tuscaloosa for gymnastics 

camps the college gymnasts worked at them 

they were so athletic. 

Now watching it on TV or in the arenas

make me so happy to have been involved

in such a great sport. Gymnastics helped to 

build my confidence and determination while

developing a love for exercise.

Sweets Overload

Lately it seems like i have been eating way to 

many sweets! I have somehow been the recipient 

of everyones left over cheesecakes, cookie dough,

and after the melting pot my insulin hates me.

My mom and brother came up a few weeks ago

and we went to the cheesecake factory where

we tried a Reese and red velvet slice of cheesecake.

The next day they both had to leave so they left 

the cakes with me. So what was i supposed to

do? I ate some of it and took the rest to Brad's.

Then in the past 2 weeks Brad has brought me

an Oreo slice and a snickers slice this sugar

madness must stop! Last Sunday my 

grandmother came to Birmingham for a Dr.'s

appointment and she brought me two tubs full 

cookie dough....this is not good for my already

unprepared swimsuit body!!!

Friday

Friday fun day i finished my third pharmacology
 assignment this morning got a shower and watched
Hoda and Kathie lee. Great start to the day!! Then
 I went to Books a Million and searched for an NCLEX
 book to practice on some test taking skills.

 Apparently no one out of 112 nursing students
 answered any of the 4 select all that apply questions
 on our last OB test. Bummer. There were like 12 so I
couldn't pick one and because they are $50 a book 

i decided to do a little more research before I bought
 one. Then I stopped by the cook book section and was
 in food heaven for like 10 min and then made myself leave the
 store before I bought a cook book. Like there is time to play
with food right now... I can't wait to be out of school.

Yes I know stop wishing your life away. 

After Books and I went to Publix.

 I usually go to Walmart on Lakeshore but not anymore
 I am proud to say I am a new convert. Sabrina has
 been trying to get me to shop at Publix since last summer
 and I was uncertain but they are so friendly, there prices are
 about the same, and they have a much better selection of produce then
 Walmart. I got some yummy foods and have been reading
for OB ever since.

Valentines day was so great we had a Pharm test on
 Wednesday. After the test Brad and I went out to eat .
We ate at The Melting Pot.Oh man! Okay so it was
 way more expensive then food should be, but every bite was
 so delicious! It's hard to explain but its 

a fondue place and  there is a burner built into the table

and they bring out bite size portions of every course. Then we 

put the food on the skewers and it cooked while we talked.

 So neat. And so tasty!

Childbirth Education

One of our assignments in my mother baby class

this week was to attend a childbirth education class.

I was dreading it but it ended up being pretty interesting 

to find out what the people actually having the babies knew 

about "birthing" a baby. There were the cutest couples at the

class. Before it started the teacher had everyone go around and

say what they were having and when they were due.

One of the couples had decided not to know the sex until 

the baby was born. At first i was immediately like, "Oh i

want to do that!" But then i remembered you cant by any 

gender specific clothes. I quickly changed my mind!

And my question after leaving the class how do moms

like Kelly Ripa still look this great after having kids?

Study Session Break

More snow last night on my walk to the gym i got
 several flakes in my eyelashes it was kind of annoying
 but i couldn't help but enjoy the flakes while the lasted.
Today I spent the entire day reading pharm. Drugs, drugs,
 drugs. My roommate is sick she coughed all day so
 i proceeded to Lysol the entire kitchen and living area.
 Glad I had to get a flu shot. No time for sick days. 

God is good and bible study was great again
 this week. I have met several new role models
 since i have been at UAB. These girls amaze me with how
knowledgeable they are in the word. Each week I am
challenged by their passion and familiarity with the Lord.

You can see they sit and spend time with him everyday.

There drive for learning and how they never
 seem to have a disappointing moment. One of the girls
 quoted bible verses in front of 120 students while she
gave a study session in patho how she tied that in had to be a
 Godcidence as Dr. Mike used to say.So here is the question how
 do i get there? I see these girls serving God and along there
 journey making their dreams come true. Thanks for the example 

girls you never fail to push me in the right direction.

Babies, Blessings, and more Snow

Hello all, i have a few things

to blog about today. First last

Saturday was my first clinical for

OB...and all I can say is love!

I so enjoyed everything about this

clinical the work is less stressful 

and of course the "Patients" are 

adorable. I had an assigned nurse 

and I helped her with her 4 babies.
The babies were all preemies so

 they were in their isolettes

the whole day but we got to feed them.

I think 4 pounds was the most one weighed.

None of them were extremely sick 

they just weren't mature enough to 

go home yet. It might have been 

my favorite day so far!

Jacks started bible study back 

yesterday and man I am excited.

She is the ultimate most positive and

encouraging person I know. Romans 

is our book for this semester and 

I can't wait! We have some more girls

from school coming and it's great

getting to know them as we study 

God's word. I have been so blessed

to be a part of this group, we are

all literally facing the same 

struggles everyday with school 

and learning about what it means

to be a nurse. Thank you Lord.

In other news moooore snow! This

is the 3rd time we have seen 
the white stuff since Christmas

break.I am so enjoying the weather...
 it is a little cold though.

Oh and I went and looked at 

apartments on Tuesday and 

I am surprised to say i didn't see

one that I just loved. Oh well more 

looking later. More Pharmacology now.
