Thanksgiving 2011

Med School Christmas

Brad had his medical school christmas party a few Fridays ago

at Rouge Tavern. We ate diner with his roomates and some

of his other RMSP friends. The Tavern was neat and the band

played seventies music which made the dancing much more fun!

Cecil and Emily are from Coleman they both went

to Alabama. She is a sophmore and an education major and

such a sweet person!

We ate at Surin before the party very tasty food!



Twenty-Two Will Be a Great Year

I had an Adult final on my birthday and everyone

else in college had finals as well. Brad dropped by

after class and gave me a sweet birthday present.

He had a final two days later so he didn't stay

long, and later Brandon took me to see one of

my very favorite Christmas movies It's a Wonderful Life

at the Alabama Theater.



Anniversary Party

On the 10th my aunt Nell had her 60th wedding anniversary

party in Opp. I loved getting to see family and my mother

was very excited to see some of her friends from highschool

as well. What a wonderful blessing to spend 60 years with

the love of your life. Aunt Nell and uncle James are a very

sweet couple. He still remembered exaclty what she was

wearing the first time they met.

Brandon and I got to come home and we spent the

weekend putting up some Christmas decorations and

catching up with mom!

Christmas Break

Christmas Break is finally here, and today I am

22 years old! The Alabama Theater is playing

It's a Wonderful Life downtown so Brandon

and I are going for my birthday!!

I had a test this morning so I woke up early to review.

I could not believe it but there were birds chirping outside

my window in downtown Birmingham. Birds don't even

chirp outside around here in the spring. Any way I studied

for my test and tried to avoid looking at the birthday gifts my

mother sent back with me from the weekend. I was determined

to wait until after the test to start the birthday line of thought!

The test was bad, but I only needed a 60 to come out with a B.

I saw Brad for a minute after the test and he gave me a Birthday

gift. So sweet! Fourth semester is complete now is the time

to start thinking about where to apply and make sure I know

my skills before precepting starts. May will be here soon.

A little Christmas:



ATI O-V-E-R

One step closer to Christmas break today! Now I have finished

the much dreaded adult ATI test (Thank You Lord). My first stop

after the test was the local CVS for a get well soon card and some

discount make up in celebration of ATI's end!! My grandad had a

stint placed today at UAB so I went and visited them this afternoon as well.

Mom  is scheduled to arrive in Birmingham in just a few minutes! I

cannot wait to pick her up. She and I are going to look at Belk for

a cocktail dress. I went shopping for one the other day but left without

a dress, because I couldn't decide! Then we are going to Enterprise

for the weekend! Yay!

Matchstix and Kelly Kids

My play date with Abby went really well. At one

point she decided it would be a great idea to play

peek-a-boo by hiding under her lunchbox. Luckily

I was still able to find her. Abby will be turning

two this month, and since my parents are still in AZ

mom had her gift sent to my dorm. If you have a

little one you should really look at their site!!

Also Caffco International is a website for business owners to order from

particular artists in bulk, but I found one of my new favorite artists on the site.

Matchstix is the name of her adorable brand. Here are some holiday and

everyday examples.



Weekend

This weekend went by way to fast!

Friday at school we did our mega code in front of about

30 nursing students and 4 very opinionated instructors.

Luckily my group did really well. And a respiratory

therapist and I got a prize for having the best chest

compressions. Ha! What an award.

After class I met Brad at the gym and I went

in the big gym for pull ups. I usually stay in the smaller

side gym when we are not there at the same time. I am

just a little intimidated of all the muscular people in the

big gym! Later we went to Walmart and then to

Railroad park. Which is a small park in downtown that

has a pond, a running trail, and a great view of the trains as 

they come into town. Pretty scenic for downtown Birmingham.

Saturday I read for the majority of the day while

also sending multiple texts to Teso. She had to go

to the Hospital this weekend because her RBC

count dropped really low. She has started some new chemo

experimentally and since then she has had to get 3

blood transfusions. Not looking good.

If there is anything God is revealing to me right

now it is how fragile our health is here on this earth.

One moment we are minding our own selfish business and

then our physical health can be taken away in an instant.

Car crash, cancer, or some other debilitating disease that we

are left to live with. Health is truly a wonderful blessing

and I am so thankful to have good health this holiday season.

 

Update

Today was a good day! Abby and I had a play date in the

morning, then off to practice with my code team for Mega Code.

Then I studied for ATI till dinner. My clinical group met

for final evaluations at Panera Bread. The summit looks so magical

this time of year! Yes Santa was there!! And after the shameful

amount of carbs I consumed I felt it necessary to finish the day with

a worth while trip to the gym! Double surprise!! Abby's

birthday present came today! Kelly's Kids is my favorite!

My dream job would definitely be to work for them!!

which is lead me to visit the site today. I

Turkery Time

Today I got to visit the Honey Baked ham

store!! I like their turkey breast better than any

other restaurant. And their sauces are delicious.

This weekend I got to see Brad everyday!

His mom and dad were in town so I got to see them two

days too! Thanks giving will be here soon, but until then

I am trying to figure out what these hemodynamic

pressures are supposed to mean to me!! (Oh dear)

Rumor Has It

Today has  been the second gloomy day in a row

for Birmingham. Dense clouds and misty rain have been

present for most of the day. We had a very boring lecture

today in Adult which added to the start of a dull day. 

Pardon the negativity I guess I am just ready for a break.

On a positive note only 1 clinical day left in the semester

and two days left of lecture. After that a few tests and 

fourth semester will officially be O-V-E-R.

Last week was fun I got to spend the day with my sweet

little cousin Abby on Thursday. She melts my heart! Then

on Friday Brad and I went to the grocery store for 

our usual bonding time. On this trip we researched the 

average life span of the blue whale and the oldest turtle to ever live.

Haha don't know how that came about. Later I got to 

go to the Galleria and got a great fall scarf monogrammed.

And to be productive I also received my flu shot!

Saturday was clinicals and after I went to Collier and

Amanda's for the ball game and chilli!! Julia is so precious.

Sabrina was also over so I got to see her too! Yay!

On my day off

I ran in to Brad last night at the gym! Today he

is going to the patholgy lab which had no meaning

to me at first, but he explained that would get to

look at a particular patients case while sitting by their body

and try to figure out why they died. That is pretty crazy

and super neat.

Today I am heading over to Angel's house and am going

to play with Abby while Angel cleans! Should be lots of fun!!

I love that little "Abner".

Almost Holiday Time

Today I am thankful that it is Wednesday. This means my work

week is over until Saturday when I have clinicals. Our third adult test was

today and I am happy with how it went. No more tests until after

Thanksgiving now!! Then we have two tests a week plus mega code.

The apartment hunt is on and I am so glad Sabrina is on the

lookout she text with a place to check out last week and it looks

great! Also I found out mom has a couch and chairs she is

going to let us recover so I am excited for that!!

Four school weeks are left in the fourth semester and

approximately 139 days until I graduate from Nursing School!

Thank you Lord!!



October is Over!

Hope you have a wonderfully spooky day!

I am studying for a pediatric oncology test the school of

nursing decided to give on the day after halloween! Luckily

Brad invited me to a halloween party last Friday so we both

got to have a little halloween fun before I started studying!

Today bible study is starting back after a long break! This

semesters schedule has been very different for everyone so we

have neglected to start before now! We are doing Galations for the

remainder of the semester...I am so pumped to get back in touch with

my sweet bible study/nursing school girls!

Final Fall Trip Tales

Sedona was such a pretty place to visit, and the site of these red rocks at

sunset really is magical. We hicked five miles into a canyon at sunset

and I got some great pictures on my "big" camera, but I dont upload those

during school because it takes more time. So a random canyon post will

probably appear around Christmas.

 The city that comes to mind when trying to describe Sedona is Gatlinburg.

The both have trails and great views with a downtown full of tourists. And

of course some great shops and choclate covered strawberries!
