I'm Through with Week 2

Week two of fourth semester is complete! The dreaded skills blitz is done and my first day at SVH is over. I love love love my clinical instructor. She is the bomb! Also, Brad is on the very good list at the moment! He has been so busy with school, but last night he was so sweet and went out to eat and to a movie with me. He is such a wonderful date! Then we both went home early he had lectures to review and I had clinicals at 6 this morning. This afternoon I found out my CH assignment is on the burn unit (not sure how I will handle that). I know it will be an opportunity to grow and learn alot though! Tomorrow is church and then a large amount of reading. Hope I can digest it all. Until next time!

Happy Happy

Today has been a great one. Pediatric lab before lunch, got to eat with Brad at the Commons, and then met my awesome clinical instructor at the hospital. This semester we will be doing surgical floor and ICU time. Skills blitz is this Friday so I will be spending most of my time after class in the lab this week. Then clinicals begin Saturday at 6am. Only 10 Saturdays to go. So much to learn and so little time. Thank you God for the many opportunities you reveal with each new day. Thank you for never giving up on me and always giving me unlimited grace. I need it.

Week 1

One week done many to go! I have been back in Birmingham for almost a week and already I am missing home. I am very happy to have Brad living in town though. We saw each other on the walk to school on Tuesday. He hasn't walked my to class since 11th grade so it was neat to see him before school. Sunday was his white coat ceremony. I think he was pretty pumped after he got it. As far as school goes pediatrics seems like it will be okay but Alif I make it through adult all will be well! Our adult teachers said we will feel like nurses after this semester! Yay! So ready!! Lots of reading planned for this weekend as well as skill practice for the skills blitz next week!

Family Affair

Today has been all about spending special time with my precious great aunts and my grandmother. On the ride back from the beach we stopped at my great aunt Shelby's home. We walked in and the lively women welcomed us with open arms and proceeded to offer me food and drinks at least five times during our 45 min. stay. Man I love my aunt Shelby she is such a skilled conversationalist and could make the most uncomfortable guest feel right at home. She is turning 72 next month and still has so much energy and spunk! After stopping by the house we went to Andaulusia to visit my Nana and Mr. Tom before going back to Birmingham tomorrow. We ate dinner and listened to there plans for the next 13 weeks because both my parents and I will be out of town and Tom is supposed to get his Lung transplant during the fall. I will be praying for Nana and Tom alot during this semester. She is not in perfect health so staying strong for Tom will be a difficult test. Meanwhile Tom will have to "give em hell" in order to recover from this surgery. After dinner and a tearful goodbye we dropped my aunt Nell's home. She is a true southern lady who loves the lord with all her might! She is one of my role models...such a sweet woman. Her and her loving husband will be celebrating their 60th Wedding Anniversary this December and she is so excited about the party!! She asked me to help her with picking out the invitations but with school I was only able to pass on a name if a great store that does invitations. She said,"Lindsey Do you know what the 60th wedding anniversary gift theme is?" I of course hadn't looked that far ahead and she said diamonds! Then Uncle James said yea I told her she had to go to town and pick her out something that sparkles. How sweet. He then followed it up with I wouldn't trade anything for her. So nice to see a couple still shearing God's love for one another after all these years. I love my family thank you Lord.

Dinner and a Movie

For the final night of our beach visit we went to dinner early and ate on the beach at Captain Daves. It had a wonderful view and the water was so calm it looked like we were eating on the bay. Dinner was so tasty and we had lots of left overs. Then we headed to Destin Commons my mother hadn't been to a movie in over five years. We were going to see The Help which I have been obsessing over since I got the book earlier during my break. The book has been holding my attention so much that I have neglected studying for the 3 exams I have next week when we start back to school. Oh well at least I have taken a much needed two weeks off. When we got to the movies The Help was already sold out ( I told you it was good)! So we went to another movie Horrible Bosses which was so so funny but a little crude! All and all it was a nice dinner date and mom had fun!

Just Beachie

What a wonderful way to end the summer! Tomorrow will sadly wrap up our 5 day beach excursion. The weather has been predictably stormy in the afternoon but the mornings through lunchtime have been great as well as the evenings. There are lots of beach bums relaxing near the waves. So many cute young families introducing their babes to the delightful sand and sea. We have seen car tags from all over the south a hobby my Dad started to keep us sidetracked during road trips years ago. Thankfully we got to spend an evening with our cousins who live in Destin. Must be nice! They are always so golden tan. My cousin Hunter who attends AU had an early birthday party before heading back to school. Such a cutie! A quick visit to silver sands was also in order for there tax free weekend! The only issue with this vacation is that our time here passed to quickly. I'll be back in Birmingham soon to begin my final year of undergrad. Thank you God for being with me throughout my time in Birmingham. Your blessings are forever overflowing and your surprises fill my heart with joy. Thank you.



Lake Lovin

Wow last week was wonderful! I had a chance to get my summer tan started. (better late than never I guess) Quality lake fun was had by all, and I got see my adorable little cousins. Those little boys kept me entertained the whole week! The cousins got a new boat so we all I enjoyed tubing and skiing. And my parents were pretty impressive with their ski moves as well. I am getting some leisure reading done during the break and my current love is The Help! Wonderful read and I can't put it down...except for now. We are in the car on the way to the beach and I got a little car sock so I decided to post. Please forgive errors and pictures and as always pictures later!! Happy sunshine!
